FAITH-IN-ACTION
Separate
from the worship services, the Faith-In-Action Teams meet on a designated
Tuesday night. These Teams are in
much smaller groups than worship service so we can get to meet and get know one
another on a more personal level. During
this time together, usually about 90 minutes, we eat a fellowship meal, sing
songs from our hearts, pray for those in need, and participate in short Bible
study. These Teams are designed to
edify the brethren and to help us fulfill our responsibilities as a Christian to
put our faith into action by serving the Lord to the best of our ability through
small assignments. To complete
an assignment each member shall be required to either send a card, make a phone
call, or visit a sick or shut-in brother or sister in Christ, as noted on the
assignment sheet, and return to the Team captain the following week.
Although members are expected to do most of the work, friends, neighbors,
and children are welcome to join us. Please
check the bulletin for scheduled Team meeting dates and times.

MONTHLY VISITATION
This
program is designed to visit members of the congregation that have not attended
for an extended period of time or visitors to the congregation.
Members of the congregation meet in a designated room in the building to
discuss the list of potential visits. Then
the group disperses into groups of two or three to make the selected visits.
If you are not able to attend on the scheduled day the list of visits is
always available to work at your convenience within that month.
The reception to this work is usually warm and friendly. Please check the
bulletin for scheduled Team meeting dates and times
AREA
WIDE
FELLOWSHIP
During
the school calendar year sister congregations of the church of Christ in the
Hampton Roads area meet together at a predefined time and location.
A member of each congregation (usually the preacher or Elder) announce up
and coming events (e.g., Vacation Bible School, Gospel Meetings, new members,
etc.) and sing a selected song or read a passage of scripture.
When the last congregation offers their news the hosting congregation
offers the invitation and closing prayer. At
the conclusion the host congregation provides a fellowship meal so we can meet
brothers and sisters from the area sister congregations.
Please check the bulletin for scheduled Team meeting dates and times
YOUTH DEVOTIONAL
Twice
each month during the school calendar year the youth of the congregation meet
after morning worship for additional Bible lessons.
Children from ages 5 through young adult ages participate
in an open Bible study of lessons geared toward their age and the daily
challenges they face. The children
and young adults are welcome to participate in activities, lead prayers and
songs as well as prepare a short devotional.
These devotionals will let the children become aquatinted with each other
and taught to take an active roll in the church.
These devotionals are usually followed by a lunch that is hosted by a
member or members of the congregation.
LADIES BIBLE CLASS
Ladies
will meet once or twice a week to conduct Bible studies. Please check the
bulletin for scheduled Team meeting dates and times
GOSPEL MEETINGS
This
is an opportunity to hear a Gospel preacher from a different congregation that
has prepared a series of lessons to edify the brethren.
These meetings are hosted by the local congregation and all are invited.
This is a great chance to invite friends or neighbors to hear the God’s
Word spoke with truth. There may be
several in the area at one time and they usually last an hour a night for three
to four nights.
